"wow you have a lot of toys"

This afternoon a recent college grad came over my house to take a look at some odd jobs I need to have done. As we were walking through the family room he said, "Wow! You have a lot of toys" I am sure what he was really thinking was, "Your house is a complete mess. There are toys everywhere and you can't even walk in a straight path without tripping over something. Your house is as messy as my college dorm room.
I am not a neat freak by any stretch of the imagination. I have to work really hard to keep things organized. I always wonder how people keep their houses so clean and neat. What is the secret? What am I missing? I realize having 2 kids and a dog doesn't help, and I have decided that I am not going to apologize or feel bad about a messy house anymore

(FRIDAY) The alarm sounded at 5AM this morning and I hit snooze...5 more minutes! When it rang again I sprung from bed, put on my workout clothes and headed out the door to yoga. I love to begin my day with yoga, and find on the days that I practice in the morning I am more centered and peaceful. I've often thought about how incredible it is that so many people wake up early to come to yoga, or to work out. Pizza Hut

When I think back to my own childhood, I remember countless meals eaten at the Montgomerville Pizza Hut. If I close my eyes I can picture the red and white check tablecovers, the cafe style flimsy chairs, the buffet in the middle of the restaurant, and most of all, my family of 7 gathered around a rectangular table. I remember begging for quarters to play the arcades, and when we got older, to put in the jukebox. I remember the waitresses and how they practically knew my dad by name. I remember the pitchers of soda that inevitably got spilled all over the table and floor. But, most of all, my favorite memory of Pizza Hut was the great times we had while we were there. Remember this? Tonight I had the wonderful experience of taking my own children to Pizza Hut for the first time. Although the Montgomeryville Pizza Hut is closed, the one we went to had the same feel to it. We met my dad there. A snowy night and great time to Follow the Yellow Brick Roads

It is snowing outside - the most snow I have ever seen in my lifetime! My poor husband has made numerous trips outside to shovel, and I have spent the time inside curled up with Janet Allen's Yellow Brick Roads (2000). I have used ideas from this book in the past, but have never really taken the time to read the book in its entirety. WOW! This book is incredible. There are so many ideas and resources in this book that I can't wait to share with the teachers in my school. Here are some of my highlights...
